Philippine Government Now Supporting Esports

The Games and Amusements Board have released a statement announcing they will provide full official support for esports teams in the country. This is great news for the industry in the country as Esports could see a huge increase in participants and interest within the country.

GAB said in the statement..

“At this infancy stage of esports regulation in the country. GAB officials are very happy to recognize not only the sport itself, but also the very talented and disciplined Filipino players and teams who have already made great inroads in the international electronic gaming arena.”

The first to be issued professional licenses were the members of Execration and TNC Pro Team and they received the licenses before representing the country at Dota 2′s The International 7.
