Halo 5: Guardians has been rated T for Teens.

Halo 5 has announced that they have been rated by the ESRB T for Teen instead of their typical M for Mature. With that being said this could be seen as a change of heart by the ESRB. For a long time they have marked a numerous amount of games M for Mature for almost any reasons. I do like this change, Halo was a game I started playing when I was probably eight years old, personally I have grown with the story and never thought it deserved a Mature rating to begin with. There’s some shooting, and language but we see more violence in a PG-13 movie. With that being said I am personally excited about this change considering how many parents tend to be strict about what their kids play. This could open things up to let a younger generation of players enjoy the game. I know to some of older players may groan at that for the multiplayer aspect but, we as a community have to keep growing. Anyway, back to the T for Teen rating. The ESRB had this to say about the game.

“Halo 5: Guardians is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of a super soldier (Locke) searching for a missing character. Players use pistols, machine guns, grenade launchers, and futuristic weapons to kill alien and human enemies in frenetic combat.

Battles are highlighted by realistic gunfire, explosions, and occasional blood-splatter effects. Characters can also use “assassinations” to kill characters by snapping their necks, or by stabbing them with bladed weapons. The word “a*s” appears in the dialogue, as well as occasional taunts/insults (e.g., “I have copulated…with your genetic progenitors!”; ‘Your father was a filthy colo and your mother was a hole in the wall!’).” – ESRB

Apparently that doesn’t warrant a Mature rating these days anymore. Either way the game looks fantastic and I look forward to playing this on October 27th.
