GameStop Allegedly Having Issues With Seasonal Hiring

In what could be a sign of “The Great Resignation” or something more, GameStop are seemingly having issues with their seasonal hiring.

This comes after a Redditor posted on the official GameStop subreddit they have having serious issues filling in open positions. The employee states their District Manager wants them to hire 8 Game Advisor (entry-level) positions, but only have “maybe” two. It doesn’t seem to just be this location as they also noted that “No one in our district is at 100% of our seasonal hire quota.”

Different factors are acknowledged beyond the control such as half of their applicants not showing up to in-person interviews. Despite this, it appears the cause could also be due to back end issues. Applications seem to not be going through with new hires unable to fill out and submit the proper forms and OKTA being broken on all tablets within the stores.

In typical fashion, the stores themselves seem to be receiving blame for everything with not accountability taking place at the corporate level. Others believe it’s a conspiracy for corporate to use it as an excuse to close stores going into Spring 2023.
