Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Not Coming To U.S. Due To “Treatment of Women In Gaming”

Koei Tecmo have announced that Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 will not be released in North America and Europe. This announcement was done on the game’s official Facebook page. The company have stated the reasoning behind this decision is due to ongoing debate of the treatment of women in gaming that has been going on, especially in the United States. The post said…

“We do not bring DOAX3 to the west and won’t have any plan change in the future. Thank you for asking.”

When fans asked for the reasoning Koei Tecmo’s official statement was…

“Do you know many issues happening in video game industry with regard to how to treat female in video game industry? We do not want to talk those things here. But certainly we have gone through in last year or two to come to our decision. Thank you.”

Needless to say that with the treatment of women in the industry and women like Zoe Quinn and Anita Sarkeesian recently attending the U.N. to discuss the treatment of women online, it’s understandable why the company have chosen to make this decision.
