Ms. Splosion Man Price Announced

Earlier today, Twisted Pixel released an official press release announcing the price tag for the sequel to the 2009 best selling arcade game ‘Splosion Man. Ms. Splosion Man will be priced at 800 MS Points.

Below is the Official Press Release…

Humanity’s Destruction Priced At 800 Microsoft Points

Ms. Splosion Man’s Accidental Creation Slated for July 13th, 2011

July 5th, 2011 – Austin, TX – The value of all life on Earth was originally placed at almost triple the amount of Microsoft points, but a surprise ruling from Twisted Pixel today cited a declining economy and a general disappointment in humanity as the root for assuring its destruction at the incredible price of 800 Microsoft Points. Minutes after Big Science Labs announced the capture of rogue experiment Splosion Man, all communications cut out. Unconfirmed reports of a “Pink Terror” led many to speculate on the existence of a “Ms. Splosion Man” – a second catastrophic experiment set to splode her revenge out from the laboratories of Big Science and into the world.

Humanity’s last brush with the apocalypse occurred almost one year ago, during the Great Meatening, a day remembered less for the terrible loss of many a scientist than for the vast flooding of delicious meat that rained down from the sky. Here now again, all of humanity rests on the razor’s edge – Big Science encourages all citizens to resist the sizzle of fresh tenderloin and mass destruction on July 13th, no matter the phenomenal value.

Ms. Splosion Man features bigger levels, pumped-up bosses, overhauled networking, ghost replays, and countless other improvements in a fifty-level single player campaign and separate fifty-level multiplayer campaign. Pick up Ms. Splosion Man for 800 Microsoft Points on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace July 13th here.

Publicist Twisted Pixel Claims Her Destructive Days Are All Behind Her

June 22nd, 2011 – Austin, TX – Embattled socialite Ms. Splosion Man has been roundly condemned by authorities for her destruction of property and abundant manslaughter charges, but nevertheless remains hugely popular in the hearts of the people. 2 Girls 1 Controller?

Written by Ryan Shoptaw Published May 13, 2011
COMMENTS

Today, your good friends at Twisted Pixel announced that their upcoming game Ms. Splosion Man will have a mode called “2 Girls 1 Controller” or 2G1C for short.

This mode will allow players to control 2 splosion gals with the same controller. One will be controller by holding down the LB button and using the left analog stick, while the other uses the RB button and right analog stick. Believe me, it’s way more difficult than what it sounds like.

Below is an excerpt from the press release…

“Hey, I’m Sean Riley, Lead Designer on Ms. Splosion Man and creator of much of the multiplayer campaign. Designers are social recluses who don’t want to make friends or talk to people, so we designers would always try and play multiplayer on our own instead of ever admitting we needed help. Then Chainsaw, our audio dude, had the idea to put both players on one controller, using each stick to control a different player and the bumpers to jump. It was a great idea, so I stole it and claimed it as my own, and we got it put into the game. Later on our Lead Programmer, Mike Henry, came up with the idea of calling it 2 girls 1 controller, and as soon as he said it, we knew that’s what the name would have to be. We decided that some of our audience out there might also be OCD with no friends and would want to try and beat the multiplayer game all on their own, so we made the mode a special unlockable in the game. Best of luck, and be very, very, very careful if you ever search for videos of people accomplishing this greatest of challenges.”

Capcom devs ‘were not told of Splosion Man concept’

Written by Ryan Shoptaw Published January 16, 2011
COMMENTS

For those who pay attention to iPhone games, you might know that there is a game called Maxplosion, which was developed by Capcom. Those who look at screenshots can probably tell an uncanny resemblance between Maxplosion and Twisted Pixel’s ‘Splosion Man. Michael Wilford said that they “originally pitched Splosion Man to Capcom and they said no.” Capcom had this to say…

“While Twisted Pixel did have discussions with our console game team about publishing ‘Splosion Man’ on game consoles, Capcom Mobile is a different division of Capcom with separate offices and as such, had no prior knowledge of any meetings between the console game team and Twisted Pixel.”

Capcom did confirm that they did in fact, have that meeting with Twisted Pixel. As of this publishing, there has not been any kind of legal charges against Capcom

Interview: Sean Riley of Twisted Pixel (Ms. Splosion Man)

Written by Andrew Nowlin Published January 2, 2011
COMMENTS

Gaming Conviction recently had the opportunity to quiz Sean Riley of Twisted Pixel games about their upcoming game Ms. Splosion Man which is expected to come out later this year.  Riley is the lead designer of the game that Twisted Pixel announced just a couple of weeks before Spike’s VGAs.

Q: We all know that there are numerous fans of Splosion Man.  What is the first thing they are going to notice in Ms. Splosion Man (besides the pink)?

A: I think the level of polish.   We already have some really cool new features and also a million little tweaks and improvements everywhere in the game.

Q: Where did the idea for Ms. Splosion Man come from? Did Ms. Pacman have anything to do with it?

A: Of course we are paying homage to Ms. Pacman with Ms. Splosion Man.  We had a lot more we wanted to do with Splosion Man, lots of gameplay that we had to cut from the first game, and some new ideas that the team got really excited about, so we opted to come back to the world of splosions.

Q: Does Splosion Man play a role in Ms. Splosion Man? We noticed how it looked like he was trapped in the trailer.

A: Can’t talk much about this yet, but you can see from the reveal trailer that Splosion Man is involved.

Q: Will Ms. Splosion Man have all of Splosion Mans abilities?

A: In the future we’ll get into a lot more depth about the additions and tweaks we’ve made for the game.  For now, all I can really say is that the simplicity of controls was one of the real strengths of Splosion Man and that’s definitely still our focus.

Q: What is the one feature being added to Ms. Splosion Man that will be sure to grab everybody’s attention?

A: Hey look, Madonna’s on fire!

Q: Can you tell us a little bit about how Ms. Splosion Man was created?

A: The idiot scientist who knocks over the champagne that starts the chain reaction that creates her is the scientist with my name.  It’s always nice to be immortalized as a klutz.  I have some pretty sweet dance moves in the video, though, much better than real life.

Q: Several other websites are reporting that a platform wasn’t announced.  This IS coming to the Xbox Live Arcade, right?

A: We haven’t said which platforms yet, but yes, the game will be on XBLA.

Q: Anything else you can tell us about Ms. Splosion Man?

A: There’s a lockdown on most of the information right now, but we’ll definitely be releasing more information about the game in the coming months!

Q: One last thing: What role will Dan Teasdale have with Twisted Pixel and Ms. Splosion Man.  Is he REALLY the one taking out your trash?

A: That’s not his only job here, but it’s the one he has the most passion for.  Lately he’s been making matching outfits for him and his broom – we try and not interfere too much with his creative process.

We look forward to having the opportunity to speak with Mr. Riley and/or some of the other Twisted Pixel about Ms. Splosion Man in the future!

Ms. Splosion Man Announced

Written by Ryan Shoptaw Published December 3, 2010
COMMENTS

Earlier today, our friends at Twisted Pixel announced the development of Ms. Splosion Man. They didn’t really share much information during the reveal, but Twisted Pixel COO Josh Bear had this to say:

“We could have churned out new levels [for Splosion Man], but we wouldn’t have had the time to add in new gameplay, puzzles, or cool new character stuff. But we didn’t just want to do Splosion Man 2, it had to be something a little more interesting. That is why we decided to do Ms. Splosion Man.”

We hope to have lots more soon, including an interview with Twisted Pixel.
