Microsoft Regret Going Casual?

Written by Ryan Shoptaw Published June 28, 2011

According to Christopher Lewis, Xbox EMEA Vice President, said that Microsoft is “unapologetic” for targeting casual gamers with Kinect. Below is what Lewis had to say…

“Xbox is defying the normal curve you might expect. There’s no doubt that Kinect put a huge shot of adrenaline into the arm of the business. What we are now seeing is massive swathes of families and younger audiences flocking to it.”

“I think we are on a journey for growth and we are unapologetic about the fact we want to appeal to those audiences [family and children].”

“We are seeing people come to Xbox now because of the new user interface or Kinect. But once they are into the Xbox world they are finding they like the core games as well. That healthy cross-pollination is giving us this growth.”

“We were deliberate about the fact that the first Kinect experiences were focused on the family and younger audiences. What you will see is us using Kinect to enhance the experience and not detract from it. I don’t think our core gamers will tolerate anything else from us.”

MAJOR EXCLUSIVE: Why Xbox Portible Wasn’t Confirmed At E3

Written by Ryan Shoptaw Published June 11, 2011
COMMENTS

We here at Gaming Conviction EXCLUSIVELY reported last month that Microsoft is working on a Xbox Portible since last October.

Well we can now EXCLUSIVELY report that there is a fine reason as to why it wasn’t revealed at this year’s E3.

According to a source within Microsoft, the reason behind an announcement not being made is because Microsoft has yet to agree on the final design. Which makes lots of since.

Expect an announcement at Tokyo Game Show later this year.

Xbox 360 Bundle Price Drop?

Written by Ryan Shoptaw Published May 31, 2011
COMMENTS

A Target Lounge Ad has a picture stating the the 250GB Xbox 360 Bundle with Kinect is priced at $299. When you actually click on the add, it still says $399.

Rumors have circulated around the web for some time that there was a price drop in the near future, and with E3 just around the corner, nobody is really ruling out anything now. Although it could also just be a mistake, or maybe something that Target is doing exclusively.

Other rumors spreading around is that the 4GB Xbox 360 could drop between $100-$150. There is also the possibility of a white Xbox 360 bundle, and a newer version of Kinect.

Guess we’ll all have to wait until E3 to find out.

Xbox 720 Revealed At E3?

Written by Ryan Shoptaw Published May 8, 2011
COMMENTS

A source for Joystiq revealed today that the Xbox 720 might be closer to be revealed than what some people may believe. How soon exactly? Try the beginning of next month at E3 soon. The source had this to say…

“Quite often when new consoles come around they’re packaged into a PC shell, but actually, what’s inside is an entirely new console. Why let Nintendo steal the thunder in June [at E3]? It doesn’t want to lose momentum. That’s why I think Microsoft is rushing to make an announcement at E3.”

While some are believing that it will come out sometime in 2012, others think differently.

EEDAR analyst Jesse Divnich said that the probability of the new Xbox coming out next year is unlikely.

“The Xbox 360 has incredible momentum and it would baffle me as to why they would make a new hardware announcement at E3 and announce its launch by the end of 2012. I think we can all agree that new hardware is due, but 2012 may be a tad bit early to launch a true new piece of hardware. But I’ve been wrong before.”

Rumors are also spreading around that the following companies already have a development kit on hand…

EA
Ubisoft
Rockstar Games
Activision
343 Industries

Let the comments fly.
