Tired Of The “Same” Game?

Written by Ryan Shoptaw Published June 30, 2011
COMMENTS

Are you tired of playing the same games over and over again? Well you’re not the only one.

Peter Molyneux, lead designer of Lionhead Studios, said that he’s tired of the “same” games.

I love new ideas and innovation.”

“I’m trying to think of a more diplomatic way of saying this, but I’m just a little bit bored of doing things the same way in games.”

“While I love all the drama of modern games there is this sameness about it. They’re essentially the same – one’s got a green palette, one’s got a grey palette; you’re shooting and ducking and diving and it just seems almost on the point of being a little bit like Hollywood where they have got into this rut with their action films.”

Quality not Quantity

Written by Ryan Shoptaw Published June 29, 2011
COMMENTS

Game Director of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Todd Howard, recently said to Official Xbox Magazine that gamers shouldn’t expect as many DLC’s this time around for Skyrim as they did with Oblivion. Howard said that Bethesda is focusing more on quality and not quantity.

“We would like to do DLC; we don’t have any specific plans yet, but they’ve been really successful and we like making them. So right now, I can say that we’d like to do less DLC but bigger ones – you know, more substantial.”

COMMENTS

Swery65, Director of Deadly Premonition, said that his team at Access Games wants to make a new game, however there is a problem with that. Access Games doesn’t have the money to begin production for a new game.

Below is what he posted on Access Games’s Official Blog…

“I want to make a new game. As much as I want, but that alone is not enough to start the process. Would anyone be ready to invest in us?”

While he doesn’t exactly say anything about what kind of game he plans to make, but does promise that he’ll “work until it kills me,” and that the team will definitely “make something good.”
