Gears 3 Beta Available To Everyone?

Written by Ryan Shoptaw Published February 28, 2011
COMMENTS

Epic Games announced earlier today that those who are Xbox Live Gold Members will still have a chance to receive access to the Gears of War 3 beta. Epic Games did, however, say that there will be a catch. It will only be available on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Bulletstorm Epic Edition owners don’t need to worry, as they all have guaranteed access to the beta as long as they entered the EA activation code they received when they bought the game, and still have their Bulletstorm Epic Edition disk when the beta is officially released sometime in Mid-April.

Devil May Cry Movie?

Written by Ryan Shoptaw Published February 28, 2011
COMMENTS

Capcom has made a pretty penny from the Resident Evil movies. Now it looks like Capcom will have another popular game series made into a movie. Earlier today Screen Gems acquired the rights to make a Devil May Cry movie. Kyle Ward will be the one writing the script. Kyle Ward’s first feature length movie Fiasco Heights is scheduled for release sometime this year. According to Variety, the DMC movie will feature Dante on a quest to “avenge his mother’s murder by killing off demons.”

No additional information is known, but we here at Gaming Conviction will do our best to bring you all the latest news on this movie.

Take-Two Buying Domains; GTAV?

Written by Ryan Shoptaw Published February 28, 2011
COMMENTS

We reported last week that the the Australian Board may have already rated GTA V, but news is spreading that Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, is buying domain names. Since January 2, they have bought 5 domains that could be used in the GTA series. These domains are…

CashForDeadDreams.com
SixFigureTemps.com
StopPayingYourMortgage.net
HammersteinFaust.com
LifeInvader.com

All of these domains have been traced back to Take-Two Interactive.

Keep in mind that Rockstar Games, nor Take-Two Interactive have officially announced GTA V yet. So this is still a RUMOR and not confirmed.

Mortal Kombat Banned?

Written by Ryan Shoptaw Published February 25, 2011
1 COMMENT

Sad news for Mortal Kombat fans down under. Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment Australia announced today that the new highly anticipated Mortal Kombat will not be available in Australia. Below is Warner Bros. statement…

“We are extremely disappointed that Mortal Kombat, one of the world’s oldest and most successful video game franchises, will not be available to mature Australian gamers. WBIE would not market mature content where it is not appropriate for the audience. We understand that not all content is for every audience, but there is an audience for mature gaming content and it would make more sense to have the R18+ classification in Australia.”

This is what the Australian Board had to say…

“The Board notes that fatalities cannot be performed in Story mode and are unlikely to be performed frequently during gameplay; however, it is also noted that there are more than 60 fatalities available and they are an important component of the game. The game includes over 60 fatalities which contain explicit depictions of dismemberment, decapitation, disembowelment and other brutal forms of slaughter. Despite the exaggerated conceptual nature of the fatalities and their context within a fighting game set in a fantasy realm, impact is heightened by the use of graphics which are realistically rendered and very detailed.”

Warner Bros. also said that they have no intent of editing out any content in order for the game to be approved.

Modern Warfare 3 Leak?

Written by Ryan Shoptaw Published February 25, 2011
COMMENTS

A website called findmakarov.com has surfaced online with what appears to be a possible tagline. The tagline says “End of War” and has a countdown clock which will end at exactly 10ET on March 2.

In a picture we found, it has a dog tag that says findmakarov and what appears to be Lt. General Shepherd’s dog tag next to it.

After checking the return address, it comes back to VVO Media, a Toronto based marketing company. VVO Media’s site has been “temporarily” taken offline.

We are waiting for a reply from somebody at Activision to confirm if these dog tag photos are real. We hope to have more very soon.

Rumor: GTA5 Rated?

Written by Ryan Shoptaw Published February 22, 2011
COMMENTS

Earlier today Rockstarbase reported that the Australian Classification Database, Australia’s version of the ESRB, apparently rated GTAV. The game received a 15+ rating, which is M for Mature. The game has “strong violence, sexual references, crude humor and drug references.”

There is a catch though, it wasn’t directly called GTA5, it was actually called “000A”. They did say however, that Take-Two Interactive was the publisher.

Keep in mind that this is a rumor, but this game being GTAV is NOT confirmed.
