Written by Ryan Shoptaw Published Wednesday, November 24, 2010

While we all knew that Call of Duty: Black Ops was going to be a major success, none of us here at Gamingconviction.com knew exactly how much it would be. Well according to Activision, Black Ops gossed $650 million in just the first 5 days compared to Modern Warfare 2′s $550 Million set last year. Bobby Kotick of Activision had this to say…

“Call of Duty has become the first entertainment property in history to set five-day launch records for two consecutive years across all forms of entertainment.”

Microsoft also reported that there were 2.6 million players on Xbox Live on launch day playing Black Ops. All of them together tallied 5.9 million hours of online play.
