When Katsurhiro Harada said that he would make a announcement regarding the Tekken franchise, he sure wasn’t playing around. Harada announced that Namco is currently working on a Tekken Tag Tournament 2 game. What makes this game different from the first is that the gameplay will be that of Tekken 6. In other words you will be able to bound, juggle, and switch using two different characters. Tekken Tag Tournament is slated to be released sometime next year in Japan, but anywhere else has yet to be officially announced

Halo: Reach Campaign Matchmaking to come in October

Bungie has announced earlier today in the weekly update that they will introduce Co-op matchmaking sometime next month. Bungie claimed the reason why it wasn’t introduced on the launch was because they didn’t want to spoil the ending for those who decided to join the game at the very end of the storyline when they have never even played any of the previous missions. Bungie said…

“The first matchmaking update for Reach will occur in early October and consist primarily of fixes for bugs and balance issues. We’re not done testing them all yet, but when they’re ready we’ll fill you in on all the little details. We’ll also be adding some game types and Forge maps. Co-op campaign will be going live in October as well. Campaign matchmaking will not take into account what your current progress is, so if you’re worried about spoilers make sure you finish campaign before jumping into this playlist!”

For those stupid players who thought it was fun hacking into Modern Warfare 2 and putting yourself at the top of leaderboards, consider this next bit of news a message. Treyarch announced earlier this week that they will have a system that monitors the game’s leaderboards and will have severe consequences if anyone tweaks with it at all (i.e. Banhammer of Doom). Below is Treyarch’s official tweet regarding this announcement…

“Yes, we have the necessary tools in #CODBlackOps to moderate the leaderboards. Furthermore, we’ll ban those who hack.”

The rumors that have been spreading around lately that a new Devil May Cry game is in the works have now officially been confirmed. Capcom announced at TGS 2010 that they will be making another Devil May Cry simply called DmC. Keiji Inafune did promise that he was going to try and make the series appeal to more of the Western video game fans, and boy did he ever. Dante will not longer have his classic long white hair, instead he will have short black hair. The trailer makes it seem as if this Devil May Cry is actually a prequel to the entire series. We will have more information as soon as we can.

Microsoft has officially announced that Halo Reach’s opening sales totaled $200 Million passing Halo 3 on best opening sales by $30 Million. This makes it the best-selling game in the company’s history. Vice President of Microsoft Phil Spencer said…

“‘Halo: Reach’ is the biggest game Microsoft has ever released and its launch has already surpassed every game, movie and entertainment launch this year.”

This is a huge number especially considering the fact Holidays aren’t for another 3 months and with a terrible economy.

In addition, a representative of GameStop tells us that they sold more than 84,000 copies more than what they originally projected to sell on release day.

ESA, EMA File Suit Against State of California

Written by Ryan Shoptaw Published September 12, 2010
COMMENTS

Earlier this week the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) and Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA) are contesting a law regarding the prohibiting sale of “offensively violent” games in minors, filing a brief with the Supreme Court, claiming that “the California statute is unnecessary, unwarranted, and unconstitutional.” The statute would “threaten freedom of expression not just for video games, but for all art forms. It would also tie up our courts in endless debates about what constitutes acceptable creative expression in our media. It protects no one and assaults the constitutional rights of artists and storytellers everywhere.” This argument is set to commence on November 2, 2010 in California.
