Racing for "Real"

A very cool article just popped up on the BBC’s website. This discusses new technology that will allow gamers to race along side actual drivers, from the comfort of your own home. Real Time Race (www.realtimerace.com) uses technology to map a track, and track vehicles/people that are actually competing live, and insert that information in to a video game. I am working on obtaining a demo, and will provide more information, and screenshots soon. RTR will support PC, XBox360, PS3, Wii, and many other internet accessible devices. MW2: Activision Releases Statement About Leaked Footage

BREAKING NEWS:  Activision releases statement to UK Telegraph about the leaked airport scene in MW2.

Today, just after noon eastern, the UK Telgraph reports that Activision has released the following statement in reference to the leaked footage:

“The scene establishes the depth of evil and the cold bloodedness of a rogue Russian villain and his unit. By establishing that evil, it adds to the urgency of the player’s mission to stop them. … Players have the option of skipping over the scene. At the beginning of the game, there are two ‘checkpoints’ where the player is advised that some people may find an forthcoming segment disturbing. These checkpoints can’t be disabled.”

The statement then continued on to say: “Modern Warfare 2 is a fantasy action game designed for intense, realistic game play that mirrors real life conflicts, much like epic, action movies. It is appropriately rated 18 for violent scenes, which means it is intended for those who are 18 and older.”   [Full Story @ UK Telegraph]
